Publication Frequency

AKSEN Journal of Islam and Humanities (AJIH) Published by AKSEN (Akademika Semesta Nusantara)

1. Publication Schedule

AJIH publishes biannually (twice a year), with issues released according to the following schedule:

Issue Release Month
Issue 1: January
Issue 2: July

Each annual volume therefore comprises two issues, published six months apart.

2. Submission-to-Issue Alignment

Manuscripts may be submitted to AJIH at any time throughout the year via the journal's online submission system. Accepted manuscripts are assigned to the nearest forthcoming issue (January or July) based on the date their production process (copyediting, layout, and author proofreading — see the Article Publication Process document) is completed.

Authors should note that:

  • Submission at any time does not guarantee inclusion in the next scheduled issue; assignment depends on when the peer-review and production process concludes relative to the issue's production deadline.
  • The editorial office will communicate the anticipated issue assignment to authors once a manuscript is formally accepted.

3. Continuous Online Publication (Optional Model)

[Board to decide: AJIH may adopt a continuous or "early view" publication model, in which accepted and fully typeset articles are published individually online as soon as production is complete, ahead of their formal compilation into the January or July issue. If adopted, this should be described here; if not adopted, articles are held for release only at the scheduled issue date.]

4. Special or Supplementary Issues

The editorial board may, at its discretion, publish special issues (e.g., thematic collections, conference proceedings, or guest-edited issues) in addition to the two regular biannual issues. Any special issue will be announced in advance on the journal website, along with its specific submission deadline and thematic scope.

5. Archiving and Issue Numbering

  • Each issue is numbered sequentially within its volume (e.g., Volume 1, Issue 1 — January; Volume 1, Issue 2 — July).
  • All published issues remain permanently accessible via the journal's online archive following the journal's archiving policy (see Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement and Article Publication Process documents).

6. Changes to Publication Frequency

Any future change to the journal's publication frequency will be formally approved by the editorial board and publisher, and announced publicly on the journal website in advance of the change taking effect, along with its effective volume/issue.

Notes for the editorial board:

  • Section 3 (continuous/early-view publication) is left as an open decision — the Article Publication Process document flagged this same choice; ensure both documents stay consistent once decided.
  • If AJIH plans a specific target launch issue (e.g., Volume 1, Issue 1 in January of a particular year), state that explicitly on the website and in the call for papers so prospective authors can plan submission timing.
  • Consider publishing indicative submission deadlines for each issue (e.g., "submissions for the July issue are typically due by [date]") to help authors and reviewers plan around the production timeline described in the Article Publication Process document.
